For a long time the internet felt like something you visited.
- A website here.
- A forum there.
- A game server somewhere else.
Recently I’ve been working toward something different.
I want to build my own little constellation of spaces.
Not one giant platform or chasing algorithms. I just want small places that feel nice.
The Moonlock Project
moonlock.xyz started as a simple blog.
But it’s slowly becoming more than that.
Right now my ecosystem includes things like:
- a Hugo based personal site
- a DigitalOcean server
- Docker services for monitoring and media
None of it is massive, and that’s kind of the point.
Learning by Building
I learn best by doing things hands on.
- Setting up a server
- Breaking it
- Fixing it again
Sometimes the documentation makes sense and sometimes it absolutely doesn’t, but every time something works even something small like a container finally starting correctly, it feels like progress.
Creative Spaces Matter Too
Not everything I build is technical. A lot of my time goes into creative communities.
- Roleplay writing
- Fandom spaces
- Moderation and community support
- Character writing
Those spaces are important. They’re where stories happen and where my friendships form Oh and where weird niche ideas are allowed to exist. I think the internet needs more of that again.
Small Internet Energy
The modern internet pushes everything toward scale.
= More users
- More content
- More engagement
